Ivy Tech Community College announced Monday that its statewide president, Thomas Snyder, has been chosen by President Obama to serve on the Roundtable on Affordability and Productivity in Higher Education.

The group “will explore effective practices to promote affordability and productivity in higher education,” according to a news release.

Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will be a member of the roundtable, which reportedly includes chancellors of the state university systems in New York, Texas and Maryland; the presidents of three public universities; and the presidents of three private non-profit colleges.

Snyder was part of the White House Summit on Community Colleges in October 2010
