“Racism and hating a champion?” (steps backward are painful in a modern age)

(They say everybody loves a winner! Yet how true is that?)

Bob Costas

Normally I would not succumb to sensationalism and the displaying of behavior unbecoming a national television network; but if NBC really followed Bob Costas’ encouraging commentary of Gabby Douglas with a brief NBC promo of a monkey swinging on the Olympic Rings I wouldn’t know how to feel about that.

Some feel that this was a mindless and half hearted attempt at being snide and racist and insulting. To be honest about it, I would be greatly disappointed if this were the case. As most of you may well know, Sound and video bites, although quick and almost subliminal in nature make an impression! The mind records everything from birth to death! So to be honest, if this were the intent, it would show just how far some folks on the third marble from the sun need to advance in their outlook on the entire human family.

If this commercial or short really did air immediately after one of the most flawless gymnastic Championship Olympian performances (executed by a young talented, and articulate black woman), making television and olympian history, maybe NBC should consider relinquishing its privilege to broadcast future Olympiad programming; especially if race smearing-Quick-Bite edited insults and bigotry is their underlying intent whenever a black Olympian comes along and rises the bar, by stepping up the pace and breaking records!

I will not justify the foolishness of the youtube NBC Promo video by playing or posting it! I’ll just end by saying what I’ve said many times before… We all can do better! To those who created this promo with snide objectives, I want you to know that if this was your plan, these kind of things doesn’t impede a person’s path and ability to greatness; if anything it pushes one ever on to perfection! Know that in so doing, the small minded shall be left behind in their little sticks and stones mindset, spewing hatred and all the while lacking in what it really takes to go to the next phase of human completeness! I say Gabby Douglas, the world is your Oyster!
