Let’s say it together now…

“I’m Mad as Hell, and I‘m Not Going to Take it Anymore!”

I’ve never been known to be a Rebel Rouser, or a trouble maker.  Well not lately anyway.  Like many of you, I watch the evening news and I am disgusted at what I see on a day to day basis.  Children getting shot by careless adults in fits of rage at each other, giving no care or concern for innocent children that may be playing, sleeping or just doing what they do, and that is being children; while the foolishness of grownups puts their little lives in

danger. Well, this doesn’t exclude the lives of our elderly loved ones either. When will people realize that our elders are the Gem’s of this world.  The Time Walkers of humanity. They’ve been where we are all trying to go! They’ve seen times and eras and heard great music, loved greatly and traveled the world, and fought in wars that we’ve only read about or seen depicted in the movies. Our elders are history in the flesh!

They bring us up to speed in life, mainly because we weren’t there to witness history as it happened. Thank God a great many of them wrote about it! Lived it? They sure did! And these wonderful people walked the walk, and lived democracy. They in fact are the real reason democracy exists! Our elders fought hand to hand combat for democracy on the battle fields of Normandy and in the trenches of a Korean jungle for freedom. Case in point, Mr.  Aaron Brantley, Carjack victim. Yes I said it, Carjacking Victim! 86-year old Aaron Brantley was beaten up and his leg broken by a 21 year old hoodlum, out to steal a car, and to hurt someone.

This someone just so happened to be a World War II Veteran. Aaron Brantley being 86 years old crawled away from the scene in search of help after the carjacker beat him, broke his leg, and made off with his car.  As Brantley crawled, bystanders just walked by him as if nothing had happened. Callus and cold, offering no help at all. That is until Haissam Jaber, the gas station attendant (along with a few other concerned citizens) got Brantley into the gas station and called police. The incident happened at a BP gas station on Detroit’s west side, and being that the attack was in plain view of a video camera the gas station utilized as a security measure, police soon apprehended the suspect, who is under arrest and awaiting charges as a result. Meanwhile,  Aaron Brantley has become a hot topic on the national news scene. Cards and  letters and gifts from all around the country have come pouring in on Brantley’s behave, wishing him well, and urging his speedy recovery.

I don’t know about you, but like any good citizen, “I’m Mad as Hell, and I’m not going to take it Anymore!” This line or quote was made popular from the 1976 movie, “Network,” about a television anchorman, Howard Beale (played by Peter Finch) who is fed up with the conditions at his television station, and things in general, and urges his television viewers to shout out of their windows;  “I’m mad as Hell, and I’m not gonna take it Anymore!” Beale’s rantings starts a firestorm of emotions and awareness among the public, and thus making it known to those who prey on the little guy that we the people are indeed fed up! Well, I’m fed up with these so called OG gangster types, carjackers, home invaders, purse snatchers and embezzlers, and these places of business who trample their loyal work force by overworking, underpaying, laying off and unjustly firing good people who simply work for a living, who also support this country with their blood sweat and tears, and hard earned tax dollars! Who’ll fight for the little guy I say? Gee, did I sound like ole’ Howard Beale there for a second?

Do I in fact sound a bit hot under the collar? You bet I am! The Aaron Brantley’s of this world should be able to live out the rest of their lives in this world, “Low Life Free!” And that goes for you me and anyone else who has paid the price for freedom. If you’re a Great American, and you believe in God (who or whatever God is to you), Country, Family and helping your Fellow Man; then you are a Great American in my book, and deserve Freedom from tyranny! You play by the rules, you honor your elders and cherish your family. You are a Great American, and I’d be glad to know you! Sound corny? Hell yes its corny, but it works!

We have a hero in men like Aaron Brantley and gentlemen like the great Air Force fighting team of the Tuskegee Airmen! These are my real live heroes! Aaron Brantley is a real live Red Tail’s, World War II type Hero, right here, and right now! So in closing I say to you all, STAY MAD enough to be disgusted at the carnage you see about you each day. Stay aware enough to care, and be mad enough not to take it any longer!
