Although these may be trying times, challenging times, somewhat difficult times yet in all and all these are still good times. What a great time to be living here on earth. What a great time to be here in the land of America. Home of the Free and land of the Brave.
When we as a people, as a nation, as people of America, we must come to realize and recognize the importance and the fact that Prayer is God’s vehicle that we are to use to communicate with him and in doing so, this allows God to accomplish his mission on the earth. Remember, Why should America Pray? Because prayer is speaking to or communicating with God, talking to God to ask or request, to petition, to make entreaty or supplication. To address God with adoration, confession or thanksgiving. Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
2 Chronicles 7:14 clearly reminds us: “If my People which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Here, God is already letting us know that we have authority and permission to seek his face. We as a nation can come to him and in doing so we have to examine our motives and by choice decide to do the right thing. Ask for his forgiveness which he is always ready to forgive and then his promise to us is that he will come see about us. He will heal our land.
Our Heavenly Father is very strategic. God is a God of order. From the foundation of the world, he declared and he decree. His word is true because what he says and declares is truth. Numbers 23:19, reminds us all that he cannot lie. In fact everything that God has done and prepared for his children on earth has been given instructions. He told Adam and Eve, to be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth. He later on sent his Son Jesus, who gathered his disciples and many others and taught lessons that he received from his Heavenly Father, instructing them that men are to pray, Everything we do in life begins with instructions. God gave Adam and Eve instructions, he told them to be fruitful and multiply. Jesus came and instructed us to Pray, known as “The Model Prayer” which can be found in Matthew Chapter 6 verses 9 thru 13. “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. This prayer is known by millions and millions of people.
Our forefathers recognized the importancy of God. They knew that we needed to honor our Christian rights. Every person here on earth sometime during the day or night will have currency of some kind in their hands. That currency indicates “In God We Trust”. Our forefathers recognized the importance of God. How he should be honored, recognized and Trusted. “The motto IN GOD WE TRUST was placed on United States coins largely because of the increased religious sentiment existing during the Civil War. From Treasury Department records, it appears that the first such appeal came in a letter dated as early as November 13, 1861. It was written to Secretary Chase by Rev. M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel from Ridleyville, Pennsylvania.
It was then that the Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase received many appeals from devout persons throughout the country, urging that the United States recognize the Deity on United States coins. As a result, Secretary Chase instructed James Pollock, Director of the Mint at Philadelphia, to prepare a motto, in a letter dated November 20, 1861:
‘Dear Sir: No nation can be strong except in the strength of God, or safe except in His defense. The trust of our people in God should be declared on our national coins.
This clearly signifies to us that America needs to continue to pray and acknowledging who God is will need to continue to reverence him. We will need to Trust in God. Thanking God for his redeeming power. Knowing this we as people of America need to seek the Lord like never before through praying. He reminds us in his word, Matthew Chapter 6 verse 33: But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. God knows that everything that is out of order can be healed and put in order If we obey Him. As we ask God to empower us this will enable us to obey him. We were created to worship and serve the Almighty God. However, God wants us to do this by choice. We are reminded in Psalm 24: The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and they that dwell therein.
Our Heavenly Father knows us, he understands us. That is why he made everything so available to us. We can boldly come to his throne of grace and obtain mercy in the time of need. I am encouraging everyone to know that God loves you. He has made his self available to you. Come as you are and as you call on him, he will answer you. Psalm 91:15. Seek the Lord while he may be found.
Remember, Prayer not only changes things, but Prayer changes you.
