Annual Cape Fear Heart Association “Heart of Gold”

Ball Draws Crowd & Saves Lives

By Deborah A. Culp

On February 11, 2012, the American Heart Association’s Cape Fear Heart Ball will host a gala “fun-raiser” for a serious case that promises to be remembered for a long time to come.  This year’s event theme, “Heart of Gold” Ball, has attendee’s and potential attendee’s beaming with anticipation of the gala evening ahead.

The purpose of the event is to raise money for the organization, while having a good time in the interim. The Cape Fear Heart Association is the Wilmington, NC extension of the American Heart Association. The Black tie affair, themed “Heart of Gold” guest will enjoy a cocktail reception at 7:30 pm, a huge silent auction and a into a gourmet dinner.

The event is a celebration of the organization’s mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and strokes. Funds raised that evening and as a whole, will benefit research and education. This year’s Cape Fear Heart Ball is being chaired by Patricia Kusek of Kusek financial Services. WECT Television Anchor Frances Weller will serve as the Mistress of Ceremonies. The host venue, the Wilmington Convention Center, sits along the beautiful and illustrious Cape Fear River in downtown  historic Wilmington, NC.

The themed “Heart Of Gold” (American Heart Association) Cape Fear Heart Ball will roll out the red carpet, for more than 450 guests representing the area’s top business, medical, civic and social leaders. All joined together for the largest fundraising events, to fight our nation’s number one killer; cardiovascular disease. This year’s “Heart of Gold” Heart Ball, hopes to raise $145,000 for the fight.

A live auction coupled with musical entertainment by Jack. Jack 180. Helps make the star studded evening a memorable one, at best! Why not make a weekend of it? Also known as “Port city” Wilmington has been deemed by Travel Magazines, one of the least expensive beach & oceanfront travel destinations in the country. Also, the area has a range of hotels, fine dining and attractions too. For that information please see: www.wilmingtonnet.com

Talking about combining two of the most pleasurable events in a lifetime; attending the Ball, supporting a great cause and spending time in one of the most beautiful places that God created!
