HEADLINE LA PRIDE’S LINEUP SUNDAY, JUNE 10
Set in the newly redesigned bigger better brighter West Hollywood Park, LA PRIDE presents its freshest entertainment lineup yet. With expanded stages and more room to dance, performers hitting the stage on Sunday, June 10, include comedian Alec Mapa, dance diva Jessica Sutta, red-hot Karmin and chart-topper Dev. LA PRIDE, the largest LGBT celebration in Southern California, takes place June 8-10 with advance tickets on sale now at LAPRIDE.org.
Actor and comedian Alec Mapa is known as America’s Gaysian Sweetheart. With hilarious live performances and groundbreaking roles on Broadway, in movies and on TV-favorites Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty, Alec Mapa has entertained audiences all over the world. Uproarious and side-splittingly funny, Alec is also a tireless advocate for the LGBT community, working with the Human Rights Campaign and the Matthew Shepard Foundation. Alec and his husband, married during the brief time marriage equality was permissible in California, have a 7 year old son. LA PRIDE is thrilled that 2012 marks Alec’s first-ever appearance.
Since exploding onto the global music scene as a member of the Pussy Cat Dolls, Jessica Sutta has morphed into a dance diva powerhouse. Her debut single, Show Me, is a club-thumping anthem that soared to number one on the charts. She’s also featured on the hits White Lies and Make It Last. An advocate for marriage equality, Jessica Sutta recently told her cheering audience that she would “always be outspoken about LGBT rights.”
With a number of energetic catchy covers of hit songs by Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Foster the People and LMFAO already YouTube sensations, and following recent home-run performances on SNL and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, LA PRIDE is thrilled to welcome pop duo Karmin, quickly becoming one of music’s hottest acts. With the success of their chart-topping Brokenhearted, Crash Your Party and Take It Away, Karmin, consisting of fiancés Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan, is the pop act to catch as their debut album, Hello, drops next week. LA PRIDE is Karmin’s first-ever Pride appearance.
Electro-pop singer Dev stormed dance floors in 2010 after her song Booty Bounce was sampled on Far East Movement’s hit, Like a G6. Since then, her distinct rap and electro-pop style have put her on the map and all over the clubs. Her songs Bass Down Low and In the Dark were big hits. Her debut album, The Night the Sun Came Up, was released in March. Its third single, Naked, a collaboration with Enrique Iglesias, is also topping the charts. Much of Dev’s music is inspired by rap music, as she believes fans respond to “pop music with rap roots.”
For 2012, LA PRIDE talent is better than ever across the 3-day celebration with a fresh mix of 75 performers, DJ’s and celebrity hosts, some returning favorites, some making their LA PRIDE debut and a number of surprises sure to excite.
