Schools in New York may not open due to a budget crisis.

Schools in New York may not open due to a budget crisis.

This headline is what happens when a right-wing Republican like Governor Corbett controls education funding in your state:

“Schools May Not Open Due to Budget Crisis.”

And that almost became a reality for more than 140,000 schoolchildren and their parents because of Governor Corbett’s $1 billion in funding cuts that removed 18,000 teachers from classrooms, increased class sizes, and forced local communities to raise property taxes.

If you agree that it’s time for Republicans to end their war on public education and restore crucial funding to our schools, then add your name to this petition today.

I believe that all of us have a stake in the quality of the education our children receive, because it’s the key to good jobs and a secure middle class.

And I will fight everyday to ensure that all schoolchildren have a world-class public education system — but we need you in the fight here in Pennsylvania to help make it happen.

Will you join me and send a message to Governor Corbett and national Republicans to end their war on public education?
