A Clean Sheet of Paper

A new academic year under way.  The highly anticipated return to school has begun.  School supplies are still relatively new and freshness is still in the air.  It’s a new school year.  It’s a new page.  Just like new notebooks have plenty of sheets of clean paper just waiting for you to create, so does this year. The beginning of the school year reminds me of a clean sheet of paper.

A clean sheet of paper represents unlimited possibilities. With God’s guidance, you can create a masterpiece. If you mess up, it’s okay. You can use an eraser or white out and keep working. God is great at erasing and whiting out blemishes that we confess that we are sorry for making.

Students: You have a clean sheet of paper in front of you. You can write ‘honor roll’ on it or ‘better grades.’ You can write ‘good citizenship’ on it and ‘excellence.’ This can be your year to shine academically. This can be the school-year you complete reading ten books! This can be the year you expand your vocabulary and master complicated math formulas! This can be the year your brain grows and you grow as a person. Set your goals and work toward them prayerfully.

Even if you’re not in school, you still have a clean sheet of paper in front of you. God gives us a clean sheet of paper every morning when He wakes us up. What will you write on your clean sheet of paper today? If you don’t know, ask God to guide your hand as you write. With God guiding, you will end up with a masterpiece!

Even if the world seems to be falling apart around you, you can still protect your clean sheet of paper.  It belongs to you.  No one can take it from you. You can do what you want with it. Make the best decisions you know how and do your best work.  Don’t allow your clean sheet of paper to go to waste.  Make your mark carefully, thoughtfully and skillfully. Be creative and do your work with great joy! Make it stand out. Make it shine! You will be amazed at what you can do with that clean sheet of paper!  You were born to be creative and productive!
